Psalm 2: slides
I had the privilege of preaching on Psalm 2 at St Andrew’s Street Baptist Church in Cambridge (above) today (24 August), where my friend and former student Simon Cragg is pastor. Here are the slides from my talk, which began by reading the psalm in the context of ancient Israel, and then looked at how the psalm is fulfilled in the kingship of Jesus. It’s one of two most-quoted psalms in the New Testament (the other is 110), so it’s really interesting in times when we’re tempted to hear the voices of chaos and violence (Psalm 2:1-3) as ruling our world.
